You must be over 18 to purchase cigarettes. If you are under 18 and you are sold cigarettes then the seller can also be fined a significant amount.

It is also illegal for an adult to purchase cigarettes for a minor.

There are a number of public areas where smoking is not allowed, such as bus malls, pedestrian malls, shopping centres, outside public buildings, pubs and clubs and restaurants. It is also illegal to smoke in a car that has a person under the age of 18 in it, or in a work vehicle that has another person in it.

It is important to be sure you are able to smoke before you light up as hefty fines can be imposed on you.
